Our next photography experiences will be the Big Cat Photography workshop at Colchester Zoo on 15 June 2018 and
the Big and Small Wild Cat photo day at the Cat Survival Trust on 14 July 2018.

Only 1 space is still available on the BCP workshop in June but plenty of spaces are still available for the photo day in July.

Seal Photography Workshop

Britain has some fantastic wildlife and this includes also marine wildlife. On our Seal Photography Workshop participants will be able to observe and photograph seals on the beach at Donna Nook, Lincolnshire.

Grey seals usually live out at sea and rest on sand banks off-shore. In late autumn and early winter they will however come to some selected beaches around Britain, and Donna Nook is one of the places where seals will come ashore to give birth to their pups and nurse them for the first 3 weeks of their lives.

Great Britain is home to about 40% of the world's grey seal population, which means the seal rookeries in Scotland and England are very important from a conservation perspective for this species. We have agreed with the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust to provide photography workshops at Donna Nook, one of the few places in the UK where grey seals come ashore.

We can't guarantee that you will be able to witness the birth of a pup, but there will be always some action amongst the seals; from pups feeding, to mums making the pups work to get to the milk and to seals having fun sliding in the mud or having a bit of an argument.

The safety of the seals is paramount and therefore, we will be staying solely within the public areas, but the way the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust has set up the boardwalk along the beach ensures that seals are not far away; though we do recommend to bring a long zoom lens
(70 - 300mm or ideally even up to 400 or 500mm).

Our workshops are half-day events, but we will be providing 2 workshops on each of the days listed below; meaning you can take advantage and photograph the seals all day (from sunrise until dusk):

8 November 2018 (Thursday) - availability > 3 spaces
9 November 2018 (Friday) - availability > 3 spaces
22 November 2018 (Thursday) - availability > 3 spaces
23 November 2018 (Friday) - availability > 3 spaces
More dates will be added if demand is there.

At the beginning, your guide will find out about everyone's experience levels and need for support, and then will be on-hand all day to help setting up the cameras, explaining the technical aspects relevant to photographing the seals and helping you getting great photo opportunities in a way that is safe for you and the animals.

The half-day Seals Photography Workshop will either start early in the mornings
(7:30am) or in the early afternoon (12:30pm) . The photography workshops in the morning will end at 11:30am, and the one in the afternoon will finish at 4:30pm. Our customers will have the option to book the morning and afternoon workshops individually or book both together (staying the entire day) .

The individual half-day Seal Photography workshop will cost £59 per person or alternatively you can book the morning and afternoon photography workshops for £99. These prices include one drink during each workshop. As with all our photography experiences, the Seal Photography workshop fee includes a contribution for wildlife conservation (20% of the fee will go to the Seal Project of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust).

In order to make our Seal Photography workshops most beneficial to all participants, we apply a maximum number of 6 participants per workshop
(minimum number of 3 participants).

You can book your space at one or more Seal workshops by completing the form at the end of this page.

Provided it is not indicated above that no spaces or only a limited number of spaces is available for the photography workshop date of your choice, please proceed to the online shop via the Payment Link to pay either the deposit (£50) or the full fee from there (depending on when you book / the full fee is required when booking 4 weeks or less prior to the workshop date). For more details about the booking process, please check our Terms and Conditions.

If you are not sure about what dates would suit you best, or you would like to get the photography workshop for a friend or family member, you can also buy a gift voucher and agree the date at a later stage.
