Our next photography experiences will be the Big Cat Photography workshop at Colchester Zoo on 15 June 2018 and
the Big and Small Wild Cat photo day at the Cat Survival Trust on 14 July 2018.

Only 1 space is still available on the BCP workshop in June but plenty of spaces are still available for the photo day in July.

British Wildlife Photo Day

We have provided photo days at the Cat Survival Trust for more than 7 years now, but these were solely around the big and small wild cats who live here. From 2018 onwards we will offer also a British Wildlife Photo Day at this great venue.

Volunteers at the trust are building a hide, which will provide gaps for cameras and plenty of windows to watch and photograph the visiting wildlife. The hide will have also a room where we can do presentations or provide tuition. Furthermore, there will be a library including guide books on mammal and bird species that will help to identify the species, participants took photos of. The design of the hide will allow us to stay here all day as it does include also a small kitchen facility, where we can help ourselves to hot drinks, and a bath room.

These images were taken at other venues, but reflect species that have been seen in the area of the hide at the Cat Survival Trust

Wildlife is already encouraged to visit the area now and the 'bribes' in form of peanuts, bird seeds and other food for the different species appear to not only pursuade various bird and mammal species to come, but also to stay for a while. Wildlife we have seen around the hide includes a wide variety of woodland birds, buzzards, red kites, foxes and muntjac deer.

From 2018 onwards we will offer our British Wildlife Photo Day at the Cat Survival Trust. We will speand the day in the hide and watch plus photograph the visiting wildlife from here. As we will start the photo days either early in the morning or continue them until later in the evening, we expect to see many other species than mentioned above during the events; providing our customers with the opportunity to capture also some nocturnal species like badgers staff and volunteers told me that they have seen them.

We will provide a more detailed sample itinerary closer to the first British Wildlife Photo Day, but as a rough guide we will start with a brief introduction, where we will find out the experience level and requirements for support from all participants. Following this we will start to monitor the surroundings of the hide and photographing the wildlife.

As the hide will have two levels and two separate areas on the ground level, we can provide more indepth tuition for individual or a group of participants at any stage during the day. All participants will have also access to one-to-one advice, and our professional photographer will be available to help setting up your camera for different images and light conditions throughout the event.

We have agreed the following dates for the British Wildlife Photo Day with the Cat Survival Trust for 2018:
14 October 2018 (Sunday) - availability > 3 spaces

We limit the number of participants on the British Wildlife Photo Day to a maximum of 6 participants to ensure that all participats will have the chance to take advantage of the photo opportunities and will have access to one-to-one advice, if and when required (minimum of 4 participants per event).

The price for the British Wildlife Photo Day at the Cat Survival Trust is £119 per person; including a contribution of £55 to the Cat Survival Trust
(helping with the keeping of the cats and projects like the hide). The fee will also nclude tuition if and when required, availability of advice on all photographic aspects and help with spotting photo opportunities. Furthermore, participants will have access to drinks and a meal as part of the day, and they will also become members of the Cat Survival Trust for one year; meaning you will be able to return to the trust during this period (day and time to be pre-arranged).

You can book by completing the form at the end of this page and, provided it is not indicated above that no spaces or only a small number of spaces are available for the course or photo day date of your choice, proceed to the online shop via the payment link to pay either the deposit or the full fee from there (depending on when you book / the full fee is required when booking 4 weeks or less prior to the course date)
. For more details about the booking process, please check our Terms and Conditions.

If you are not sure about what dates would suit you best, or you would like to get the photography course or photo day for a friend or family member, you can also buy a gift voucher and agree the course venue and date at a later stage.
