Snow Leopards

Snow leopards are not part of the leopard species and have been for a long time actually been considered in as a separate genus (uncia uncia). Since 2007 the snow leopard has been however classified in the genus panthera based on the adapted voice box, which theoretically allows it to roar. This beautiful species lives across 12 different countries in the mountains of Central Asia, including India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and Mongolia.
