At the Rutland Falconry & Owl Centre we offer participants the opportunity to take photos of a wide range of owls and other birds of prey as well as of leopards, a serval cat and a puma. The Rutland Wildlife Sanctuary (the cat section of the falconry) is generally not open to the public and photography is here generally not allowed.

During the morning we will visit the bird section, where participants will be able to photograph owls, falcons, hawks and other birds of prey on their day perches within the woodlands. Additionally, our customers will be able to watch and photograph a flying display (weather dependent). In the afternoon we will go into the wildlife sanctuary to see and photograph the cats.

Our photo day at the Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre is open to all experience levels. And although there won't be any classroom tuition, participants will have access to 1-to-1 advice on any photographic aspects throughout the day. Our professional wildlife photographer, Barbara Meyer will be available to offer advice on technical photographic aspects and to help participants with the settings on their camera. Based on Barbara's connection to big cat conservation, our customers will also benefit from learning more about the leopards and how knowing the animals will help to get better images.

The photo Day will start at 10:00 and finishes at 16:00. In order to make our photo days most beneficial to all participants, we apply for the Birds of Prey and Leopard Photo Day a maximum number of 10 people per photo day (minimum of 4 people).

The price for this photography experience is £110
(and will remain so in 2018). This includes a 50% contribution to the Rutland Wildlife Sanctuary (helping with the keeping of the leopards and other wild cats). The price includes besides the guidance and advice by our professional photographer coffee/tea at the beginning of the photo day and at lunch time. As the venue has no catering facilities please bring your own lunch. Alternatively Barnsdale Gardens or Barnsdale Lodge are only a short drive away.
